The history and future of the Cerier Family Homepage

My name is Andy Cerier.  As I write this it is September 2009 and I am 52 years old.  I have been playing with computer and internet technology since its infancy.

As soon as I discovered domain names I registered "cerier.com".  For many years I have used this as my personal home page.  Now that most people are familiar with the internet I have decided to make this the Cerier Family Homepage, and make its services available to anyone with the last name of Cerier.

My personal homepage has been moved to http://andy.cerier.com/.

If your last name is Cerier, I can offer you the following:

  • An e-mail forwarding address.   This is an e-mail address that forwards to another e-mail address.  For instance we could forward name@cerier.com to your current e-mail account.  You give all your friends name@cerier.com, and if you decided to change your "real" mail address we will simply point name@cerier.com to your new location.   To use this method does require that you set the "Reply To" in your current mail tool to name@cerier.com so that anyone who replies to an e-mail you send has it return to the correct e-mail address.
  • An real e-mail account.  This account is a real mailbox with all the bells and whistles.  You can access your mail via a webmail interface, via the POP protocol and/or via the IMAP protocol.  You can access your e-mail securely via SSL.   An SMTP server is available for sending mail, with a work around if your ISP blocks SMTP ports.   If this sounds complicated, not to worry, I can help you set up your mail client on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
  • A personal cerier.com subdomain pointed to an Internet page.  This would allow you to have a name similar to my "http://andy.cerier.com/", and you can have me point it to any site you desire, be it a personal blog, a picture album, or any web page somewhere on the web.
  • A personal cerier.com subdomain homepage.  This is a little more complicated, because web pages don't build themselves.  A web page can be built with many different computer programs, or by someone proficient in HTML and CSS.  If you are interested in this option please contact me to discuss it further.

How to contact me: please send an e-mail to andy.cerier@gmail.com.  (I am not using my personal e-mail address here because spammers can read these addresses and use them to send me junk mail.  Google Mail will remove the junk mail for me.  When you write to me I will send you my personal e-mail address).
